The Open Door

As Jesus died
his friends were sad -
they saw the closing
of a door.

But Jesus prayed,
"Father, forgive" -
for from that act
of human hate,
divine love planned
an open door.

And as his friends
on Easter morn
found the open tomb
and Jesus alive indeed,
they saw the miracle of grace -
his door of death
had become for us
an open door to life.
